Two men are accused of beating and ultimately killing an Alabama fan at a Louisiana bar during an early Sunday morning sucker punch brawl that left Alabama fan Robert Bowers on life support and the good ol Louisiana boys on the hook for the eventual death of Bowers.
Bowers’ daughter says witnesses told her there might’ve been some sort of beef between the good ol boys and a Bowers family member who might’ve been talking to a woman at the bar.
Opp native, Robert Bowers, 46, of Ponchatoula, had been on life support at University Medical Center but died Tuesday, Ponchatoula Police said in a news release Wednesday (Nov. 7).
Ryan Anthony, 24, of Albany, and Azia Crockett, 27, of Ponchatoula, turned themselves in to detectives, and each was booked with felony manslaughter at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite, police said.
Both men are accused of hitting Bowers at the Ponchatoula Pub on West Pine Street early Sunday.
Bowers said she was told two men approached her father. One tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Your old lady . . .” and then punched him, she said.
It would be easy to jump to the conclusion that this is a college football fan fight situation. Thing is, I checked Azia Crockett’s IG and I can’t seem to find any rah-rah LSU posts from the guy. This seems like a classic, ‘You shouldn’t be talking to that woman’ bar fight and not some sore loser situation.
