I’m going to be VERY honest with you right now. I wasn’t sure what I would think about Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. I’m not a camper. I’ve never really loved the idea of pitching a tent in the woods and spending the night. As much as my 4 sons and husband are obsessed with camping (even in our backyard!), they’ve never been able to convert me. OK… until now. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground changed me on the camping front. It changed me BIG time! Holy MOLY!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground
I’m telling you right now. I was absolutely, positively dazzled by Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. DAZZLED! It was everything and anything I didn’t expect and more! I feel like this would be the perfect happy medium for our family. Mommy out camping (either pitching a tent OR in a cabin)! It’s everything they’ve wanted and more for a family vacation!
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground – Fully-Equipped Campsites
Great for larger parties, 4 types of campsites accommodate everything from tents to 45-foot and longer RVs, with a maximum of 10 Guests per site. Each campsite is equipped with privacy-enhancing landscaping, water, cable television and electrical hook-ups, a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Most campsites also include a sewer hook-up, and some even permit pets.
I’m telling you right now… this is MY kind of camping people! Not to mention – you’re on a DISNEY PROPERTY! You can take advantage of all of the amazing amenities right there on property and it’s just about everything and beyond! I also love that you have a cable television and electrical hook-up. Honestly? That’s all I need! I love that you can pitch a tent and still have some of the “luxuries” of life while you’re there, too.
But here’s the best part – you can ALSO rent a cabin! Oh… mama mia! The cabins are amazing! I was thinking the cabins would be like cabins that I’ve rented while being in Maine. Don’t laugh… but every cabin we’ve rented has always been VERY rustic. I mean – nothing over the top luxury. I’ve just always had this thought in my head that the cabins wouldn’t be (dare I say it) nice! And well… I was WRONG as can be! I mean – after all, it’s Disney, right!? I should’ve known better!
Let me share with you some of the photos of the beautiful cabins that fit up to 6 people! Just wait and see these amazing photos!

You can also escape to Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool, the all-ages quiet pool with a whirlpool spa.
Golf Cart Rentals!! OMG… probably the best part for me! LOL! My kids are going to fall in love with this perk!! You can pop around the resort in a fantastic golf cart!I was buzzing around with mine that I got to drive!! Beep Beep!

There’s so much more, too!! You can really enjoy a rustic vacation there, too! Which is ALL right in the heart of Disney, which still just blows me away! You feel like you’re actually on a Dude Ranch, but you’re not!! Archery, horseback riding and canoeing are just some of the exciting activities available to you and your family at this rustic Resort.
Pets are WELCOME!! This was a question that a ton of people were asking about while we were there. Yes… you can bring pets!! Here is the info on the Pet Policy:
Furry friends are welcome to join your family’s camping adventure as long as the following conditions are met.
- All pets must be kept on a handheld leash that is 8 feet or shorter or confined in the interior of the owner’s climate-controlled personal recreational vehicle. Pets are not permitted in tents and pop-up campers.
- Guests with pet privileges may take their dogs to play in the off-leash Waggin’ Trails Dog Park or walk the many on-leash trails. So that our Guests with pets can enjoy ample time at the Walt Disney World theme parks and destinations, day and overnight kennel care is available at Best Friends Pet Care.
- Pet owners are required to pick up after and properly dispose of their pet’s droppings.
- Pets that interfere with the quality of the Guest experience at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in any away (such as aggression, noise, etc.) or generate a legitimate complaint to management will result in the pet owner being required to discontinue the pet’s inappropriate behavior, remove the pet to an off-site kennel, or leave the Resort.
- Please note that Guests who wish to stay with their pets at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will be charged a $5 per-night pet fee.
I’m telling you right now – this is one of the TOP places that I would DEFINITELY stay at while visiting Disney. It’s also VERY economical. You can stay here in a tent for under $100/night! I mean… camping in New Hampshire is about the same price as that at some places! I couldn’t believe it, especially when you see ALL the other amenities that you get while you’re there, too. It’s just incredible. This is a GREAT option for families!
Check out the other places I’ve visited and reviewed for you, too!
Plan your next Disney trip SOON!! AAA Travel has some awesome deals for you to take advantage of, too!
