The Controversial Denim Trend I'm Finally Ready to Try

When it comes to denim trends, I’ve tried a number. Distressed denim, skinny jeans, cropped flares, “mom” jeans, straight-leg styles—I’ve worn them all. Lately though, the most recent denim trend to make it’s way onto my radar has left me puzzled. Knee-length denim shorts, or Bermuda shorts, or whatever you want to call them have been making their way onto my Instagram feed with increasing frequency. They certainly seem tricky to style and can easily fall into the “ugly” trend category, but lately I’ve been wanting to try them.

I’ll credit Pernille Teisbaek with truly making me fall for the trend. Her style, though minimal and classic, is also experimental with new shapes and silhouettes and always strikes the right note of both modern and timeless. Looking to her outfits, and those of other stylish women like Sophia Roe, has validated the trend for me and shown just how chic the tricky denim piece can look. I haven’t tried them for myself yet, but stay tuned because I’m finally ready to add them to my summer wardrobe. Ahead, get some outfit inspiration and shop denim Bermuda shorts for yourself.

Here is one of the outfits that first convinced me how cool the trend can actually look.
I also love this outfit worn by Sophia Roe. Her black shorts almost mimic the widely popular bike short trend.
