I’m still in shock that The U is in Toledo for a football game
There are home games for a mid-major and then there’s The U coming to your mid-major campus for a game that The U cannot lose. If they lose, just go ahead and blow up the season and go on fall break because the ACC schedule won’t matter. They’re not beating Clemson anyway. You’ll have about 27,500 or so fans in the Glass Bowl and the school is expecting 130 recruits to show up.
The beauty of this game for Toledo is that all the pressure is on Miami. They’re rolling into town for a game their fans don’t want to play. They’re mad at their former AD, Kirby Hocutt, for committing to it years ago because The U needed to do some home and homes because they couldn’t afford to do one-offs and pay schools to come to Miami. And Miami doesn’t have the money to buy their way out of a game in Toledo.
Add it all up and you have the Hurricanes in Toledo for a nooner on ESPN2. Just give me a game that makes it to the fourth quarter. The atmosphere will be electric. Miami is a 10-point favorite. Be careful.
