Browns WR Antonio Callaway Cited For Marijuana Possession

Sadly Browns fans have to pump the brakes on the Antonio Callaway hype train. He may be “tearing up” defensive backs in camp and listed as a starter on the depth chart, but a very Browns thing happened over the weekend as Callaway was cited for weed possession and driving with a suspended license.

From ESPN Cleveland:

According to the police incident report obtained by ESPN Cleveland, Callaway was driving his vehicle and was stopped at 2:59 a.m. on Aug. 5 when officer Eric Schubert observed him failing to yield to oncoming traffic while turning onto Howe Road.

Callaway’s driver’s license was found to be suspended. Schubert also found “a small amount” of marijuana under the driver’s seat, per the report.

According to Deputy Chief John Janowski, the amount of marijuana was small enough to be regarded as a minor misdemeanor under Ohio law.

Callaway was picked up by a family member, per the report, and Callaway was cited to Strongsville Mayor’s Court at 9:30 Thursday morning.

Considering Callaway’s collegiate history, this probably isn’t a surprise for a lot of people. Credit card fraud, weed possession, a sexual assault case — there were red flags galore, and the Browns still decided to draft him.

Reminder that Antonio Callaway checked almost every red flag possible at Florida (h/t @LanceZierlein):

Also worth pointing out here is this Callaway incident occurred before the Browns traded Corey Coleman to the Bills for a future seventh-round pick that same day.
