I Can't Stop Thinking About This Ultra-Wearable Collection

Dad sneakers! Beaded bags! Fruit prints! Tiny blue-tinted sunglasses! Fashion trends this summer sure have been interesting, as my grandma would say, her nose a bit wrinkled. (In other words, fun—just not my thing.) While I admire people who can pull off all these trends in one seamless go, I personally parted ways with my bucket hat back in 2001. I need an escape from my candy-colored, hypebae-filled Instagram feed, and I need it now.

If you’re with me on this, L’Agence, an L.A.-based brand with Parisian sensibilities, has a collection that’s right up our collective alley. The fashion label’s fall/winter 2018 collection feels like a capsule collection specifically for me and my need for cool-girl pieces with more enduring appeal. There are seven pieces from the collection that really speak to my style, and luckily for me, there’s nary a fruit print in sight.

I’ve always wanted to wear a trench exactly like Holly Golightly does in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, i.e., perfectly cinched at the waist with a pair of slingback kitten heels. This third piece is taking first place because of the khaki color; it’s a tone that feels fresh and very 2018—much more interesting than the classic beige options without being too crazy. Catch me outside wearing this exact trench the second temps drop below 75 degrees. (Yes, that’s coat weather for this L.A. girl.)

True story: Everyone here at Who What Wear HQ owns at least one plaid blazer. No exaggeration. The check trend re-emerged last year and is still holding strong, joining the likes of the LBD and moto jacket on our list of die-hard fall staples. I’ll be building most of my transitional looks around this plaid L’Agence version—just try and show me a piece that balances cool and classic quite this well. (I’d wait, but I have a feeling this will take you a while.) The double-breasted cut gives it perfect structure, and its slightly oversize cut makes it easy to layer.

There’s no doubt about it: Leopard is the It print of the upcoming season. While some will get flashbacks to the Jersey Shore days, I’m getting excited about finally wearing the printed neutral I consider a forever classic. To avoid looking too OTT, L’Agence’s version has muted tones and subtle spots, making it feel much more refined than a brighter version. I’ll be wearing this printed blouse with black high-waist jeans for fall.

While the front of this top looks like a classic button-down, it’s the back that really gets me. I love how the silk-wrapped buttons on this blouse run down the back and curved seam that brings it all together. It’s a simultaneously sexy, luxe, and classic piece that can be worn tucked in or tied at the front for the perfect date-night look.

I have a thing for skinnies, to be sure, but I have an even bigger thing for coated skinnies. This fine alternative to leather pants is, in my humble opinion, one of the most classic and chic pieces you can own. These ultra-flattering high-waist skinnies can be paired with almost anything—if I could get away with it, I’d wear these every single day (especially since they don’t lose their shape). Also, if you were wondering, yes, they do come in black.

This simple and refined piece packs a serious punch. Instead of going for my usual lace-trimmed version, I’m going to switch things up by wearing this clean-lined silk wrap-style cami. The flattering silhouette is perfect to wear on its own, or layer it under beautiful tissue-weight long-sleeve knit. Add a crystal belt for a touch of early ’00s nostalgia.

Finally, for those days where I’m feeling lazy but still want to serve lewks, I’ll be reaching for a jumpsuit just like this one. The plaid print (like I mentioned before) is something I’m continuing to invest in. Layer the look with a turtleneck, logo T-shirt, button-down, cashmere sweater—whatever you can find that will fit under that beautiful neckline. And if “ugly” sneakers are really your thing, fine: I’ll allow it.
