What an unlucky break the restaurant chain Bob Evans took this week. Literally just this Monday, they hired Urban Meyer to be the company’s first ever “Head Breakfast Coach”, which meant he was supposed to appear in ad campaigns and commercials and talk about all the delicious foods that comprise a balanced breakfast. Little did they know, two days later Urban was going to find himself in the biggest Ohio State scandal since Terrelle Pryor got some free tattoos.
And just like that, the “Head Breakfast Coach” is no more. Barely three days on the job and not even enough time to get a menu item named after him and Bob Evans has canned him. Just mere hours after the report dropped from Brett McMurphy, they scrubbed any mention of Urban or the breakfast coach from their website. His days slinging eggs and sausages are over.
Columbus Dispatch – Bob Evans Restaurants has pulled ads featuring Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer from its website only days after announcing that the Ohio State head football coach would be the star of its fall advertising campaign.
The move came within hours of the news that Meyer had been put on paid administrative leave after reports surfaced that appeared to contradict his contention he did not know in 2015 that receivers coach Zach Smith had been accused by his now ex-wife of abuse.
Meyer signed on as the first “Head Breakfast Coach” for the restaurant chain earlier this week. When Bob Evans announced that Meyer would be the star of its ad campaign, the restaurant chain’s president and CEO said that “We’re ready for whatever plays he throws at us.”
Somehow their tweet is still alive on well on the timeline, but the website is totally scrubbed. If you follow that link in the tweet it’ll take you to an error page. It seems like this is the first domino to fall. If whatever you did is bad enough for Bob Evans – an Ohio staple – to send you packing, you’d have to imagine his actual job comes next.
